GPSTC Announces New Communications Officer Online Training Course

Posted by:

The Georgia Public Safety Training Center has launched a new online training course to help agencies meet a critical training need of public safety communications officers. “Handling TTY Calls” is a 2-hour online independent study course that can be used to help meet the ADA requirements for ongoing training and direct and equal emergency telephone services to people with speech and hearing disabilities.

I would like thank my colleagues Melissa White and Amy Knight for researching, developing, and posting the course to our online learning management system. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Newton County 9-1-1 and Director Mike Smith for allowing Melissa to film some footage for the course in their center.

GPSTC is proud to help agencies meet this critical training need and we look forward to developing additional communications specific courses in the future. If you have any suggestions or specific needs, please let me know.

Please feel free to share this information as needed.
